The new leaders of two of the countries most affected by last year’s Arab Spring met for the first time on Monday since taking office.
Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki arrived in Tripoli to hold talks with Libya’s transitional leader Mustafa Abdel Jalil.
Tunisian companies want to resume their role as major business partners of Libya’s. Many of them won lucrative infrastructure projects under Colonel Gaddafi’s regime.
The programmes were put on hold during Libya’s civil war.
Marzouki won elections in mid-December following the toppling of his longtime predecessor Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who was forced to flee to Saudi Arabia after 23 years in power.
